Public Worship Gatherings Cancelled In March
All of us are aware of the growing global concerns around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). I would like to provide the Redemption family with the latest update on our plans and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety, and well-being of our entire church family and the community around us is of great importance to our Leadership Team, as is the responsibility to fulfill our mission to make disciples & lead our church in being a beacon of hope in our city.
Today, with even more restrictions and cautions encouraged across our country, our Leadership Team met to pray and seek unity in how Redemption should proceed. God graciously gave us unity in discerning our next steps. We sought to carefully consider the situation and seek God’s will for our specific church family and community. As a result, we have decided to cancel our public worship gatherings on March 15, 22, and 29th.
The issue wasn't weighing faith versus fear, but rather seeking God's wisdom in light of everything from our civil responsibility to our dedication to faithfully be fulfilling our mission to make disciples. Our worship services are an important part of the life of our church family and will be missed, but I am eager to see how the Lord will reveal to us new ways of being the church to one another and to our community. We will be providing a variety of ways to worship, grow, serve, give, and stay connected as a church family throughout this time.
We will not be live streaming a service tomorrow, but will be providing a devotional message from Pastor Dustin, a very practical way to love your neighbours, and resources to help parents disciple their kids during these weeks. All these and future updates will be provided at our website (www.redemptioncommunity.ca), on Facebook (www.facebook.com/redemptioncommunity) , and via email.
As our ongoing financial commitments carry on in this time, we would like to ask that those who do not normally give online to please take advantage of our secure online giving option found at www.redemptioncommunity.ca/give.
We realize this virus is creating anxiety, but we remain confident of God’s steadfast presence in our city and all around the world. Let’s pray for those affected by this illness and the caregivers who are working tirelessly to minimize the impact of the virus. Let’s also use this opportunity to demonstrate a spirit of faith and draw confidence that the Kingdom of God will prevail.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27
As the situation is rapidly changing, we will continue to pay close attention to developments and will prayerfully seek God’s direction in light of local, provincial, and federal recommendations. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.
